What this application is
Finances is a private personal finance tracker with exactly one user, Johannes Kantorczyk, who is also its author. It reads his own bank accounts through Enable Banking's account information service so that his balances, income and spending appear in one place. It is not offered to the public, it has no sign-up, and there are no other users whose data could be involved.
What data it accesses
Only for accounts he owns and has explicitly authorised in his own bank's app: account identifiers and IBANs, account balances, and transaction records including amounts, dates, counterparty names and payment references. It also reads portfolio holdings from his own Bitpanda and Trade Republic accounts. It requests account information access only. It never initiates a payment, and it holds no scope that could move money.
Where the data is stored
In a database on his own machine, and later in a private database in his own Cloudflare account. Access credentials stay in a local environment file and the Enable Banking signing key is held outside the source repository. Nothing is stored on a shared or multi-tenant service.
Who the data is shared with
Nobody. The data is not sold, not transferred, and not disclosed to any third party. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no profiling. The only parties involved are the banks and brokers that hold the accounts, and Enable Banking as the account information service provider that carries the bank connection.
Legal basis and consent
Each bank connection rests on consent that Johannes gives himself, in his own bank's application, for his own accounts. A consent lasts at most 180 days and some banks grant less. It can be withdrawn at any time in the bank's own app, and once withdrawn the application can read nothing further.
Retention and deletion
Transaction history is kept for as long as it is useful to him and can be deleted in full at any moment by deleting the database file, which leaves no copy anywhere else.
